About

My ceramics are very much influenced by my background in graphic design, often having a fairly minimalist aesthetic. I mainly work with black and white porcelain and bone china as I enjoy the purity and depth of black and white they allow me to achieve. I draw inspiration from many areas, including a love of food, art and words. I am also very interested in exploring ideas around fragility and things that are broken – and the celebration of these imperfections.

An element of humour and playfulness is an important part of my design and creative process. My aim is to work towards achieving my own version of 'perfect imperfection', whether the finished piece is functional or decorative, hand-built or individually slipcast.

More recently I have been exploring my three-dimensional ideas in two-dimensional form. This has allowed me to play with scale and an additional palette of colours - and the interaction of Limited Edition prints with my ceramic work.

How it all began…

My ceramics journey first began as a result of the painting class being full at school, so I ended up in the pottery class - and I loved it! Somewhat ironically it was making ceramic pieces, rather than painting, that made realise how much I loved designing things. This led me to my decision to study graphic design. Fast forward through getting a degree, quite a few years of working in design, until a few years ago when I went back to doing pottery, initially through adult education. I was hooked - again! A couple of years later I enrolled to study ceramics part-time and then a year later, I set up my first studio in London in 2019.

Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more about my work, or are interested in buying or commissioning.

Thank you for visiting - and I look forward to hearing from you.
